Rockapella performed at the New England ball during President Clinton's 1997 inauguration. The stage manager promised that we'd be onstage with Bill & Hillary during their brief visit, but we became the victims of a heinous fashion-smitty. Apparently our stage-wear wasn't formal enough for the occasion, and we were pre-empted by tuxedo'd hasbeens Little Feat. As a Friend of Bill, I'm able to forgive him for Whitewater, Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, and campaign finance transgressions. I cannot, however, forgive the White House for sending me an official inauguration thank you addressed to Ms. Sena Altman. (1997) |
